ITERATIONS

ITERATION 1

Iteration 2
Iteration 2

After analysing my plans from 3.1  through the 5 point plan I decided to combat this by creating a stacked form.

With elderly population at the ground floor , creates a community immediately at the more accessible levels

Problems arose as the spaces are too open and non discript which could lead to an hostile environment

The circulation was my biggest issue residents would have to enter round the back of the house for their to be any sort of functionality to the spaces.

Most exciting part of this development was this exciting interior space. Bringing light deep into the plan and creating a great spatial experience. All activities could be based around this central void

Cons - housing unit 1 is somewhat neglected via this design as the family units have this centre piece

-There is an uneven balance of distribution of tenants demographics.

Remember this ..

Existing stretford residents said that experiential quality and typology is among their most valued asset when assessing the housing market. I think this atrium space works to these goals but there is still improvement.

Aesthetically - the overall form needs improvement.

Perhaps a more reductive nature is need to make the apertures more dynamic or a focus on materiality to ground a sense of considered beauty.

Iteration 3

I think there quite a leap in development here. The rooms are broken down to incorporate more defined spaces.

Due to the the large spaces before I could incorporate hobby rooms into each apartment , completely private facing the north side.

Sliding partitions and the room depth being under 15 meters (at 11.5m) this means that the spaces can be naturally ventilated but also give the option of privacy

The biggest issue is daylight. Perhaps taking the idea of a light atrium and making a courtyard that can run through all typologies could work.

The spatial arrangement is generous enough to allow a shift for a 2meter by 2 meter courtyard which would give a prominent feature to all tenants.
